   Lying is always morally wrong.
   
   So is cutting someone with a knife, but a surgeon does it all day long and we thank him. 
   
   With the human propensity for rationalization it isn't hard to justify just about lie you want to make, and folks do just that.

   There are degrees of lying, the serious lies and the white lies
   Serious lies such as; fraud, cheating deceiving are damaging to someone
   White lies are  are untruth that may not hurt someone but  not the real story.
   
   Either serious or white lies they are lies and are  morally wrong. We all fall short in speaking we all commit white lies sometimes that's why we ask God to forgive us everyday because it is wrong to lie. But if we lie constantly and destroy others it is really a crime we must have to answer.

   Lying is not always morally wrong.
   
   For example, how can it be morally wrong to tell a girl that she does not look fat when she actually does?

   I think there are times when we lie to avoid hurting feelings and that is probably more morally right than the lie is morally wrong.

   Nothing is black and white in life, unfortunatelly we often lie when cornered to escape the unpleasant situation, when scarred for our loved ones or for our own
   life...I have learnt not to make any more harsh judgment, who is there to 'throw a stone'...who is up there who can say with a clear conscience that he (or she) has never said half-truth, has never compromised...the truth...
   
   I can only say I am trying my best to be truthful to myself and to people around me as lying at the end brings more lies and hurt to everyone involved...

   Lying is definately morally wrong but there are instances when it may be justified. Emanuel Kant (German philosopher) looked at this question in depth.
   He gave the example of a man being followed by a killer. If the man being followed knocks on your door and asks you to hide him/her because he/she is about to be murdered, what would you do? Would lying to save a life be justified?
   I do think this is a great example ... and Kant was a genius (in my opinion).
   
   I can not only accept things as true, I can also accept them as necessary.

   I think it can be justified at times.  There may be situations where you are friends with two people who may not like each other, but refuse to admit that to one another.  Even if you know the truth, is it really your place to tell them?
