A healthy diet plays a very significant role in reducing the heart disease risk. Several food items are necessary to eat if you want to keep your heart perfectly well. One of the major food items that must be included in your diet are the dried fruit nuts. The idea that dried fruits may not be healthy as fresh fruits is totally wrong. Rather the nuts contain nutrients and unsaturated fatty acids which are equally good for maintaining a healthy heart. Some of the most common and essential dried fruit nuts are mentioned below which must be included in our diet to keep a healthy heart.

Walnuts are the oldest known tree food dating back to 10,000 BC. They are not only good for the heart but they are also recommended for your brain. Its brain look alike shape also points out to this fact.

Often considered, walnuts are heart smart nuts. Adding walnuts in your diet are good for your cardiac health .They carry cholesterol lowering properties. Due to the presence of omega 3 fatty acids, walnuts help lower down your LDL cholesterol commonly known as bad cholesterol. Not only this, walnuts also are rich in other nutrients like B vitamins, Vitamin E, fiber and several other minerals. This makes them heart friendly. It is advised by the doctors and the nutritionists to eat almost handful a day in order to keep your heart healthy.

Even if buy them raw, they are still steamed .That is because its shell contains a substance called “urushiol” which is the same chemical that is present in poison ivy. It can cause the same reaction that is experienced from poison ivy. If a high amount of urushiol is ingested then it can be dangerous and even deadly. Although Cashew poisoning is rare but those who handle it are at a greater risk.

Numerous studies have shown that pistachios are helpful in decreasing LDL cholesterol while raise the HDL cholesterol, the good cholesterol. They also contain many antioxidants which are essential for the maintaining heart health .Therefore eating pistachios and adding them to your diet is very much advised.

Everyone must try to add handful amounts of nuts to our diet. Care must be taken not to over eat them as they are highly concentrated with nutrients as well as a good amount of calories. They are undoubtedly a healthy snack, easy to carry and store. So next time if you feel like eating oil rich French fries, try giving nuts a shot instead and always remember HEALTHY NUTS AND A HEALTHY HEART

Great hub! If I may add..raw nuts are more beneficial than roasted. The roasting process destroys alot of beneficial nutrients. For those eating almonds to lower cholesterol, it's the raw almonds that make a difference, not the roasted:)
